The company’s genesis began with its founder’s years-long quest for a great cup, a quest that involved trying expensive bags from the store, various subscription services, and countless local cafes. Far too often, the result was bitter, boring, or just plain bad.

This consistent disappointment—and the wasted money it represented—fueled the search for a better solution. The founder dove into the world of coffee, becoming obsessed with the science behind sourcing, roasting, and achieving the perfect brew.

The breakthrough came with a profound realization: the most interesting, flavorful, and unforgettable coffees aren’t always the “perfect” ones. Instead, they come from beans that defy the cookie-cutter mold—the “bad” beans, the rebels, the ones with character.
